Before I moved to Singapore, I was a gym rat. There was never a day when I did not smell the rubber and sweat mixed the air of my local gym. I was friends with everyone there until I had to move to Singapore.
My boss had promoted me to be one of the managers in our Singapore branch for at least 2 years. I did not hesitate to take the job. I had no one to leave behind because almost all of my family live in different parts of the world. Plus, I just left a short-term relationship. So, I will take this time to start anew and focus on work and my self.
They gave me housing and monthly allowances on top of my increased salary. There was no room for complaints. All I had to do was monitor the projects and plans in the Singapore branch. Commuting in Singapore is a breeze, my apartment is close to the Pasir Panjang MRT. It was easy for me to navigate the areas close to mine.
Finding a gym was easy. Going to work I passed by a gym that was a 5-minute walk from the MRT station. I have only tried Crossfit with one of my buddies back home. It was very challenging but also exciting. The amount of workout would just get to you, but that is the goal of Crossfit - doing a lot of workout in a short time. I allowed myself to try Crossfit here in Singapore. I want this to become a new thing I would learn here.
I went to the gym near Pasir Panjang after five days of mustering some courage. The place was huge. There was a lot of equipment for Crossfit. I approached their front desk and asked for a personal trainer to teach me how to Crossfit. They agreed and said to come back after an hour.
After an hour, a man was waiting for me and introduced himself as a personal trainer. Our first session would be free because this is just to measure how much I could do in a Crossfit session. Surprisingly. I did more than expected. After that, I felt stronger and flexible.
The trainer recommended me to sign up in their gym. Since Crossfit gyms in the West part of Singapore are rare to come by, I took the opportunity and signed up for a month. My trainer said I will enjoy my time here because their Crossfit equipment is complete and cleaned every day. He said to come back for the next session which would be on the weekend to give me more time to rest.
I highly recommend this Crossfit gym in West Singapore called Set Free. You will see a map on their website to know where their branch is located. You can book a free trial when you are available. The good thing about them is they are open every day.
